REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF A SELF-REGULATORY BODY

A Self-Regulatory body refers to a body set up by registered Organisations that have come together and agreed that the body exercises some degree of regulatory authority over them upon consenting or resolving that they would abide by a set code of conduct, rules and procedures. Below are the requirements for registration of a self regulatory body:

REQUIREMENTS

1.

A letter requesting for Permit to operate addressed to the Executive Director, NGO Bureau indicating; objectives, area of operation, number of years applied for not exceeding 5.

2.

Dully filled Form O

The application for registration of an organization shall be signed by at least two representatives of the self-regulatory body.

3.

A list of NGOs subscribing to be part of the Self-Regulatory Body, their physical addresses and contacts (Official Telephone and Email)

4.

A resolution from each of the organisations stating their willingness to be part of a Self-Regulatory Body.

5.

A copy of the code of conduct for the Self-Regulatory Body.

6.

Proof of a special meeting held under Section 37(4) of the NGO Act, 2016 accompanied by a registered resolution, a copy of the minutes and a signed Attendance List

7.

A copy of the organizational structure and rules of the Self-Regulatory body or governing document

8.

Physical Address of the Secretariat of the Self-Regulatory body

9.

Proof of payment of the prescribed fees

HOW TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION:

Submission of the application should be made to the NGO Bureau in hardcopy in a well labelled spring file. For ease of crosschecking and verification, documents in the spring file should be arranged according to the order in this table of requirements.
