Board of Directors
Section 9 of the NGO Act, 2016 establishes a Board of Directors for the NGO Bureau composed of 7 members appointed by the Minister and approved by cabinet. The Board consists of a chairperson, a Vice Chairperson and 5 other members. One third of the members of the board of directors must be female. A board member must be a citizen of Uganda and of high moral character and proven integrity.
The function of the board is to oversee the implementation of the Bureau’s policies and programs among other functions. A member of the Board of Directors holds office for 3 years and is eligible for reappointment for one further term.
