REQUIREMENTS FOR A RECOMMENDATION FOR A WORK PERMIT 

The NGO Bureau writes recommendations to the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration (DCIC) for foreigners who apply for Class G1 (Missionaries and Volunteers) Work Permits. Recommendation letters are issued to organizations that meet the following requirements;

REQUIREMENTS

1.

A Cover letter addressed to the Executive Director, NGO Bureau requesting for the Work Permit recommendation and stating number of months requested for.

2.

Photocopy of the Work Permit beneficiary’s employment or engagement Contract/agreement

3.

Appointment/Invitation Letter of beneficiary

4.

List of foreign and local staff working with the NGO, their job titles and duration of each staff’s contract

5.

A valid Certificate of good conduct of the beneficiary

6.

Curriculum Vitae (CV/Resume) of the beneficiary

7.

Rationale for recruitment  of  foreign employees/succession plan (except for Volunteers)

8.

Photocopy of the organization’s registered Constitution or Memorandum and Articles of Association, or any other documents governing the Organisation.

9.

A chart showing the organizational structure as stipulated in its registered Constitution or Memorandum and Articles of Association, or any other documents governing the Organisation

10.

A certified or notarized copy of the Certificate of Incorporation from Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) or equivalent from the country of origin.

11.

Original proof of payment for certification of a Permit of Operation and Certificate of Registration for every application made. (validity of the Permit of Operation should be at least 7 months from the date of application)

12.

Certified copy of academic documents of the beneficiary from the institution or a notarized copy

13.

Photocopy of Passport biodata page

14.

Photocopy of Immigration status (e.g. Visa page)

15.

Tax Identification Number (TIN) Certificate of the Organisation from URA

16.

A copy of a certificate from the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO)

Black and white  photocopies of the Permit of Operation and Certificate of Registration 

NOTE: Only NGOs that appear on the Updated National NGO Register (UNNR) can apply for this service.

HOW TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION

Submission of the application should be made to the NGO Bureau in hardcopy in a well labelled spring file. For ease of crosschecking and verification, documents in the spring file should be arranged according to the order in this table of requirements.
